Fortinet’s wireless security solution consists of three components:

Wireless Controller - FortiGate

The FortiGate network security platform acts as a wireless controller for FortiAP Thin Access Points, while providing firewall, VPN, intrusion prevention, application control, web filtering and many other security and network capabilities. There are FortiGate platforms to meet the requirements of any network, from small businesses to large enterprises and service providers.

Thin AP - FortiAP

FortiAP Access Points are cost-effective 802.11n “Thin” APs that provide integrated security and WiFi client access. The range of FortiAPs includes models for small branch offices, high-capacity headquarters, as well as outdoor or industrial environments. The FortiAP series utilizes industry-leading wireless chip technology, providing up to 300 Mbps of wireless network throughput per radio in both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz spectrums. Learn More

FortiWiFi security appliances are a single unit that integrates wireless AP capabilities into the FortiGate network security platform, making it ideal for small and medium business, enterprise branch offices or retail deployments.
